Timothy Brophy focuses his practice on legal matters in business, real estate, estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
Education and Background
A native of Medford and second-generation lawyer, Tim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 from Stanford University, with honors in History, and his Juris Doctor degree in 1978 from the University of Oregon School of Law.
After law school, Tim began his legal career in Portland, where he practiced in legal fields ranging from commercial, construction, real estate and personal injury litigation to business and real estate transactions. Tim represented companies and individuals engaged in many diverse businesses, including wood products, real estate, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, electronics, communications and international trade. Tim also served as Germany’s Oregon legal counsel, handling legal matters that involved German citizens and interests.
In 1989, Tim returned to the Rogue Valley and joined the partnership that became Brophy, Duhaime, Mills, Schmor, Gerking & Brophy. Tim’s father, Carl Brophy, was a senior member of the firm, and the opportunity to practice with Carl was a major factor in Tim’s decision to return to Medford. After a long and distinguished career, Carl retired in 2002, just short of his eightieth birthday. During Tim’s 24 years in the firm, now known as Brophy Schmor LLP, Tim’s practice narrowed from a mix of transactions, estates and commercial and real estate litigation, to strictly transactional and estates work. In 2014, with the intention of continuing the family tradition of professional excellence and faithful service to clients throughout Oregon, Tim established Brophy Law PC.
